Organik travels to London Ontario to partake in the closing celebrations of the 2007 Sustainable Campus Conference. This is a nation-wide organization of bright young people who want to make a difference in how schools and the world is run.
Hello! If you thought that Organik flew Gladys off a cliff to a bloodydeath, then you are wrong! Although that would be an incredible way to go! Instead the band has made it home safely to Vancouver. Now you may be wondering a couple things: Why hasn't there been an episode of Bits and Pieces posted in 11 days? and, Why didn't they do any shows on the way back?? Well the truth is, Bits & Pieces are not aired in real-time, so there is plenty of unseen Cross Country Canada footage. Secondly, it is my priestly duty to film, edit and post the vids so I can only do it so quickly. I am actually wrists deep in editing the next installment so please hang in there. In the meantime enjoy a few of my nature photos :)
Also this Saturday November 3rd join us all at The Bourbon in Gastown to celebrate our return to the west!
This is the song that Organik donated to the USA coast2coast 2007 tour for children with arthritis. This charity tour was put on by Fanny Posselt of Denmark, with her Polsevognen (world's most traveled hotdog stand).
Organik penetrates into Ontariariario to stimulate the crowd at Jacks. The band will be returning to Thunder Bay and Jacks on October 11 & 12 and will be appearing on CILU's (102.7 FM at Lakehead U) ‘Digging Thru The Rubble' between 4-6pm on Thursday the 11th. Too bad about the awning...
BC Hydro has put on a contest wherein each contestant produces a 30-60s video explaining innovative ways to conserve energy. This is the video I entered into the contest. Please help me to win by casting a vote. The video with the most public votes wins a new camera :)
After a very flat day of travel and a couple dare-devil moves we arrived in Regina. Greeted by an old friend and band-mate, we then proceeded to have a bite, play an acoustic set at Chapters, and tour the bodyshop. Thanks for the hospitality Mike.
It was a tough trip for Gladys the Bus. Probably one she hasn't ever had to take, but she made it and we're all very grateful for it. The Detroit Diesel engine in her belly is also known as 'The Green Leaker'. This means it leaks oil, all these engines do. Somewhere on the bumpy highway in Northern Ontario, the poor girl lost the grease trap skirt (or mustache as we called it) that prevents a lot of her discharge from creating a mucky mess.
Luckily, to our rescue came a company that makes an incredible product called Oil Lift. They were kind enough to donate some of their special formula to our cause in exchange for a video of us putting it to the test. So I hope you enjoy this cleansing experience. We may need an extra bottle for Nyjah though....
Welcome to Cow-Town. Big thanks to Clint at Verns for having us out and Brent Tyler for warming up the crowd. Much gratitude is owed to Robyn and Mark for the wonderful hospitality provided while we were in Calgary. Stay tuned to see (ôr-gan'ik) travel into the east-side and explore the unknown adventures that lie beyond!
The show at Sunpeaks ends, despite the drama. Organik piles on to Gladys and we make for Golden. As time zones change so do our chances of making the campsite before the gates close. Luckily with karma on our side, we manage to slip in, and enjoy a good nights sleep. Next stop: Calgary.
Day 2 in Sunpeaks BC. Organik hits the main stage. Drama with the kick drum skin. Oh well. To all the the Montreal fans: come down to the Arts Café (201 FAIRMOUNT O, MONTRÉAL-7pm-10pm) this Friday August 24th for an acoustic style Organik performance. Stay tuned for the unfolding tour footage series available only at organiktheband.com, and getting Organik in your Ipod by visiting.....
The adventure across the country brings organik to Sunpeaks BC, the location of the first show. They run into home-town buddy Max Murphy and Five Alarm Funk at the festival. The team also discovers some 5-star accommodations which will turn out to be the money-est they see for awhile...
Well the organik clan along with gladys the bus have arrived at their destination in Montreal Quebec. Not without a few bumps in the road. All in all a very positive trip with many good times. Stay tuned for all the adventures as I find time to upload them! Tonight we show the crowd at L'absinthe how the westcoast rocks the party. Bonjour Montreal, Ou revoir Vancity!!
Goodness gracious. What an adventure this has been thus far. I am speaking to you from outside the Energy Lounge in Winnipeg. Due to the rigorous traveling schedule it's been tough to obtain an internet connection, I'm actually stealing one right now. Just so everyone knows the tour is going splendid and we are all in good health. I want to take this opportunity to thank Colin, Tracy, Merlin, and Maggie from Winfield, Robin, Mark and Brent Tyler from Calgary, and Mike from Regina for helping us on our way. Things will be a little more consistent once we make it to Montreal, but until then we're a band (& blog) on the run.
Please enjoy this sample of us playing on Granville St. at the Street Beats Summer Buskers Series. The date of departure for the tour is next Wednesday. Yaay. Catch us at earls on fir for the last time on monday. Thanks to Luke for the vid clip and Terry Davis for the pic.
With less than 2 weeks left in Vancouver, things are mighty hectic at organik hq. But even with all that's going on, we felt it necessary to have a going away show. So everyone is invited down to The Bourbon (50 Cordova Street West, Vancouver) this Thursaday Aug.2. We'll be hitting the stage around 11 so there will be time for a pre-drink. Don't miss this last chance to see (ôr-gan'ik) live before taking on the world!! I want to thank Donald McKillican for snapping these shots of us busking on Granville last friday. You can catch us 1nce more on the street at Pender & Granville on Wed. Aug 1st at 1pm. Also make sure you get your copy of the Back 2 Me album now available on...
Me and D heading out to the gig this morning, beautiful weather as you can see.
Our glorious show downtown in front of the pharmacy. Were we really too loud? I don't think so, but my ears are a little worn out.
We had this lady dancing, I guess the groove was alright. Too bad the show was only 45 minutes, I'm sure we would have had a mosh pit going if we played longer. Oh well. Next time, right? Thanks to the DBIA and the Street Beat Festival for having us.
It was a clear black night, a clear white moon (ôr-gan'ik) was playing live @ the Backstage Lounge. Hot as hell and Friday the 13th, peep this clip of Back 2 Me. For those who can't get enough, stop by earls on fir monday night for sum jams. Or if your downtown often during the day, stop by these locations for a street treat:

Here's a clip from the Backstage Lounge last wednesday. Join us there again July 13th (friday oooooo) with Matt Mei. Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely June-uary weather!!
Throw up your dubs this Wednesday (may 30) at the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island. Organik will be performing live along side Darren Scott, Sound of One, and Mike Weterings. Thanks to L+M for putting on this event, and of course everything else they do for the music community. Drink a pint, hear some great music, and be remedied for the back half of the week. See you there.
Well well another beerfest has come and gone, and what a fest it was!! Such activities included a 5 man relay, the gravity bong, and of course the construction of the BEERAMID. Thanx to the Johnson residence for hosting the event, and the mess that came with it. Luckily D had enough sense about him to take a few decent pics. A special treat was awarded to those who stumbled down to Bayswater, as they were met by a bed of hot coals which was made into an epic beach bonfire. All in all this beerfest out-did the first 10 fold (due to an absence of gristle) and I’m sure it’s only up from here. Stay on the look out for the day-after canoe trip up the Indian Arm taken on by the HCs, where we visited the Bunsen Lake Hydro-electric power station. Fun stuff!!!
We were crazy to do it once, and lunatics to do again. Tonight will be the 2nd official Organik Beerfest. Some of you may remember (not anyone who participated) the 1st beerfest, held in gastown at the end of January. Organik was joined by Say, Patty Shar, Jeff Johnson, and Jerimiah. Tonight the roster will be increased and the location will be Kits. Part of the reason we are summoning this event is to entertain some european friends with hopes of team building. Although immoderate drinking resulting in a lack of photographs during the 1st beerfest, here's what we hope tonight may look like.......
ALAS!!! Witness Game 5 at earls on fir. Thanks to Courtney and T.Nelly for the pics. Anyone who was there probably doesn't remember cause they were ALL SLAUGHTERED. Luckily the 'nucks are continuing their squabble for the cup, so there is a chance for another Game 5, unless they get swept :( Stay tuned......
Now I'm not typically one to gloat or make fun. I know what goes around eventually comes around. What I do know, is to strike while the iron is hot. Unfortunately for calgary, the flames have been doused. As for the Canucks, game 1 of round 2 against the Ducks is tonight, and though I have little hope that Vancouver will advance to round 3, at least for now we are still alive. Big thanks to Steven Wealick for supplying this photo. For more of his and his cohorts hilarious pics, search the facebook group, 'Picture Editors of the World'. I hope everyone enjoys tonights' game. Look out for another (or-gan'ik) playoff night of music, hockey, and laughter sometime this round.
No matter who wins 2nite and Tuesday, game 5 of the conference quarter finals between the Canucks and Stars will happen this Thursday. Anyone who is looking for a lil' xtra excitement between periods is sure to be @ earls on broadway and fir. All who attend will be continuously entertained throughout the evening with live music by organik in the intermissions and a set post-game. This will be the first all-ages show that organik has done in quite some time, so no need to book the babysitter. Best news of all, if the 'nucks keep winning, there will be more organik playoff games at various locations throughout the city. Remember to subscribe to the organiktheband blog and recieve posts in your inbox. See you @ game 5!
